PRIME Program
After School PRIME Program
In an effort to improve academic success, Aplington has implemented a program which provides students an opportunity to stay after school for help with school work, completion of work, or preparation of ISAT. All students are welcome to join. It takes place Monday through Thursday from 3:15 to 3:45. Like most school run programs, the success of this program lies in the support and commitment of not only the students and school but also the parents.
Here is a brief overview:
- The program is voluntary, but those who wish to participate will have a contract signed by the parent and student.
- Participating students will have teachers initial/stamp their PRIME cards if the goals for that day have been met for each class. The goals are as follows:
- Be on time to every class
- Have completed assignments for every class.
- Be prepared for class by having all necessary materials.
- After school each student will take his/her card to the PRIME coordinator who will check the card to determine if the student has met his/her requirements.
- If the student has met: The student is exempt from staying after school for that day.
- If the student has not met: He/she must attend the after school program. The student will complete the work that was not completed for that day, work assignments for the next day, or prepare for the ISAT.
Students signed up for the program are expected to comply with all guidelines. Non-compliance will result in penalties and/or removal from the program. As with other after school programs, transportation home will be the responsibility of the parent and student.
A change to the PRIME program for the 2007-2008 year is the addition of a PRIME coordinator position.
This year, Sarah Schlegel will oversee the enrollment and parent contact portions of the program. Any questions regarding student attendance of or performance during PRIME may be directed to her at 946-2519.
(Please note: all of Aplington's teachers take turns hosting the daily PRIME sessions in their rooms or the library. Mrs. Schlegel will simply help organize the program and provide feedback, when needed, to parents/guardians.)
